"Zanotta: Stories" presents the IT specialist's room

Sep 6, 2021

No, this is not a living space, although it easily could have been.

It is a traditional, interactive project from Italian company Zanotta. The brand is literally making design history. It invented the world-famous hunchback chair, the Mezzadro and Sella stools - with tractor and bicycle saddles - and the Blow inflatable chair. Zanotta has brought an ironic twist to the home and continues to experiment, interpreting contemporary interiors with ease and wit.

The project 'Zanotta: Stories' is an exhibition organised in a historic building in Piazza XXV Aprile in Milan. A virtual home populated by citizens from all over the world: new nomads, urban farmers, IT workers, and highly mobile people who are constantly on the move, looking for new connections, cities, and communities. And Zanotta has designed a unique space for each of them. Six rooms are furnished with the brand's latest and most iconic collections. They all tell a story of the modern way of life, immersing visitors in the stories and lives of the characters, and suggesting the diversity of trends in living space design.

Zanotta's cultural dimension was created in collaboration with Studio Calvi Brambilla and extends into the square, where viewers can identify with the protagonists.

Pictured here is the IT specialist's room. In the living room, the Tonietta chairs are arranged around the Reale CM table, while the host is seated on the Mezzadro stool, invented by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni in the 1950s, which is based on the idea of making furniture from whatever tools are available. Indeed, the object, which has become a part of every design history textbook, is assembled from an old tractor seat from the beginning of the 20th century, with bent iron legs and a wooden stand, reminiscent of a corkscrew handle.

Next to the Sacco chair is another iconic product that has become part of the collective consciousness. The Follia armchair was designed by Giuseppe Terragni back in 1934. Its cushioned backrest on curved supports lets you lean back slightly and sit back in comfort.

The original Aster floor rack is already a 21st century treasure. Thanks to its light and threadlike metal construction the object enlivens your environment without making it heavier.
