All the colours of the city from USM

Apr 28, 2017

At the international furniture exhibition Salone del mobile, the Swiss company USM presented its conceptually new project USM Haller E. In Milan, for example, the company demonstrated an innovative system for integrating electricity and lighting into a load-bearing furniture structure for the first time.

Whether it is a reception, a display case or a shelving unit in your own living room, USM offers the right lighting to give your interior a warmer atmosphere.  With a handy handle, the light bulbs can be integrated in the frame with a single click, so users have the option of using the lighting of their choice: either to illuminate shelves and display cabinets from the inside or to direct warm or cold light onto the walls. Thanks to movement sensors, the contents of the drawers can be seen at a glance when they are opened.

In addition, the USB charger is also integrated in the enclosure, so that a tablet or mobile phone can be charged directly from the enclosure - with absolutely no wires visible.

The innovative electrical integration system does not represent an end point in the development of the project, but sets the direction for further research and development," says the company's representatives commenting on the innovation. Control via a mobile app, surfaces that respond to touch and programmable light scenes are all areas in which USM wants to find innovative and surprising solutions.

Equally impressive was the Swiss company's exhibition stand itself, which was designed and realized together with the studio Atelier oï: a veritable theatrical spectacle was presented to visitors at iSaloni. The exhibition stand was interpreted as a veritable metropolis where USM Haller E stands consisted of skyscrapers in which typical domestic scenes were set out. By immersing themselves in a sea of USM light under makeshift paper clouds, visitors were able to discover more and more aspects of life in the modern metropolis.
