Visionnaire launches dining room collection
Dec 8, 2020
The fashion duo Draga & Aurel designs new dining room collections for the Italian factory Visionnaire. The result is a capsule collection inspired by the achievements of the space age: the launch of satellites, the landing of a man on the moon. It is dedicated to visionaries, their ambition and unquenchable thirst for discovery.

The collection is named Amos, a series of Israeli communications satellites. The focal point of the formal dining room is a monumental table. The glass top doesn't conceal the base, allowing you to appreciate the unusual construction and the richness of the textures: two metal plates encircling a cylinder of concrete. The metal is cast in a sand mould, which helped create the "lunar" surface, while the concrete has been eroded using sea salt - a technique that was the result of long experimentation. At least a dozen prototypes eventually led to the desired effect.

The dining group is complemented by decorative wall objects and the Sputnik pendant luminaire series. The diamond-shaped brass modules form compositions of various shapes and sizes. The surfaces effectively reflect light, casting theatrical shadows on the walls and ceiling. According to comments by Draga and Aurel, when designing the luminaires they aimed to support the universal theme and were inspired by space-age fashion, in particular dresses made of metal plates that are connected by rivets, chains and wires and have become Paco Rabanne's trademark.
