Cult furniture: Maggiolina chaise lounge from the Italian factory Zanotta

Nov 30, 2021

This is an iconic sun lounger and the epitome of the Zanotta brand. The Maggiolina was created by the Italian designer Marco Zanuso in 1947. During the design process, he rejected the traditional concept of a padded lounger and suggested an alternative. The production method he conceived was based on the decomposition of elements, thus making the design suitable for series production. The original idea underwent several stages of simplification and Maggiolina materialised in an elegant tubular structure, a semi-rigid armchair structure and two padded cushions for the back and the seat.

Maggiolina is one of the pieces in the permanent exhibition at MoMA in New York. The Zanotta factory recently introduced an updated version of the chaise longue in fabric.

New Studio is a representative of the Italian factory Zanotta in Belarus.
