Beach fantasy from German manufacturer DEDON
Jun 8, 2017
The move towards using materials that bring natural warmth and freshness to urban interiors is certainly on the rise. This glorious green renovation of homes is expected to continue in 2017-2018. Green walls, hanging gardens, rainforests, lily ponds and waterfalls - at the last iSaloni, such decor elements were ubiquitous.
The stand of German manufacturer Dedon, without a doubt, was one of the most interesting and fully disclosed the eco-trend.
"After a trip to the jungle last year, it was time to return to the beach," commented Dedon Creative Director Sonja van der Hagen on the design of the exhibition at iSaloni 2017. - But not any beach. We envisioned a sanctuary, a secluded place where you can relax and have fun, be with friends and family and enjoy our collections. Werner played perfectly with our intentions."
As last year, Dedon entrusted the realisation of the vision to internationally renowned designer Werner Eislinger. The primary challenge for him, in turn, was to create a natural yet sophisticated space. "When working with a brand like Dedon, it's not easy to create something really good," explains the designer. - There must also be that special atmosphere typical of DEDON: a calm, natural, genuine fun atmosphere that makes this brand unique."
Eislinger shifts the emphasis by placing a wide mirror in the centre of the floor, around which the composition lines up. This circle creates a fresh oasis effect and, complemented by a mirrored wall, expands the space, creating a complex reflection where many objects appear to be twice their actual size.
The designer has carefully worked out the details: a draped screen is reminiscent of a water cascade, on the walls geometric designs are interspersed with floral ornaments (the work of artist Mirko Borsche), catwalks made of natural materials create a play of light.
But the main hero of the Hideaway Beach exhibition is, of course, the furniture. Attention is drawn to the new collection of 'lively' street lamps by designer Stephen Burks, as well as to the extended Brixx, Tibbo and Mbrace collections.
Unspoilt nature, muted summer colours and a spirit of carefree luxury, Hideaway Beach was one of the highlights of the last iSaloni.
