Opera Contemporary: A new frontier between classic and modern

Nov 23, 2020

The Italian brand Opera Contemporary has captivated audiences with its ability to walk the fine line between established classics and contemporary interior design requirements. The relatively young company is a subsidiary of Angelo Cappellini, a world-renowned furniture factory founded back in 1886. They have used their extensive experience and excellent reputation to create a brand with a new vision of classic furniture in 2010. Collections are given a bolder character, combining pronounced graphicism with delicate materials and finishes.

This year Opera Contemporary aims to expand its international distribution network and increase the brand's recognition. A point of reference for this has been the flagship showroom in Frankfurt, which opened in 2011. To this day, it is the brand's flagship showcase, showcasing its iconic products: starting with the Butterfly bed (designed by Castello Lagravinese), which borrows its sinuous profiles and the capitone craftsmanship that enriches the headboard; sofas from the Mavra collection, whose geometric profiles are offset by soft cushions; and of course the Ludmilla table with its distinctive metal base that creates a play of arches and curves.

Staying true to the principles of its predecessors, Opera Contemporary skilfully realises the dreams of demanding aesthetes, drawing inspiration from centuries-old traditions and striking stylistic solutions.
