Claude Cartier & Moroso: Traditional French design with ultra-fashionable innovations

Sep 7, 2021

Interior by French Instagram star Claude Cartier. The designer-decorator started with two small showrooms in her native Lyon, but very soon visitors fell in love with the displays so much that she had to open her own design studio.

Claude is not shy about experimenting, combining traditional French design with ultra-trendy interior innovations. The latter often include furniture from Italian brand Moroso. For example, the heroes of the project are pieces from the Gogan, Ruff and Getlucky collections, all designed by Patricia Urquiola.

Through a careful selection of furniture, the designer creates a loose, elegant and at the same time cosy and creative style. The name Moroso Gogan and the look of the sofa hark back to the Japanese tradition of paving riverbanks with round pebbles for decoration and protection against floods. The irregular shape of the seat and backrests echoes the outlines of flat stones cut by water. The massive cushions with jagged edges are connected to the backrest by L-shaped pieces. The upholstery is not simple either - it is a recreated fabric from the 1970s from the Moroso archives.

The Ruff armchair consists of just two parts that are harmoniously woven together: the upholstered back and the seat. The wide armrests neatly 'hug' the person and make this model stunningly comfortable.

Another highlight is the Getlucky armchair with a bevelled cylinder base. The round seat is beautifully enveloped by the neat semi-circle of the backrest. The only decoration of the restrained design is the expressive decorative stitching which forms a regular horizontal line on the backrest.

New Studio is a representative of the Italian brand Moroso in Belarus. You can purchase the furniture in the Minsk showroom at Nemiga, 12, 2nd floor.
