Aurora - Opera Contemporary's first novelty of the season
Apr 30, 2021
Aurora is the first new product of the season from the Italian factory Opera Contemporary. Its creators are the creative duo Draga & Aurel, who have a rich eclectic background ranging from art and fashion to handmade furniture.
This time, designer Draga Obradovic has been inspired by runway trends: the structure and sculptural shape of the Aurora lounger is reminiscent of a woman's sandal heel. The elegant frame is handmade from natural wood, the upholstery from precious natural leather. The upholstery's soft pleats are usually used to decorate handbags and pouches. The designers have opted for a slim, 60s-inspired silhouette, which emphasises the hand-crafted look characteristic of the factory.

The chaise lounge chair is characterised by its curved, organic outline. The virtuoso work of the technologists has made it possible to obtain a sturdy yet light and graceful-looking product. The result is expressed in the utmost thinness of the wooden elements at the intersection of the arms and in the extreme elongation of the legs which become the distinctive architectural mark.
The armchair is complemented by a compact pouffe. Together, they represent the core values of Opera Contemporary: craftsmanship, rich cabinetry tradition, attention to detail, customisation and investment in innovative technology.
